About the Author:

Justin wrote this story about his wife Elizabeth.  She really is a nurse who takes care of sick children (not mice).  Justin and Liz have a little girl named Sophia.  They also had a son named Joseph who was premature.  He passed away right after birth.  Justin and Elizabeth both work at a Children’s Hospital. Elizabeth works in the Pediatric ICU and Justin works for the transport team as a Respiratory Therapist.  Justin and Liz are donating $1 from every book to The Children’s Hospital of Aurora,  Colorado.  The rest of the money will go into Sophia’s college fund. 

About the Illustrator:

Elizabeth Johnson-Wold always answered “Artist” to the question “What do you want to be when you get other”.  She is happy to be doing that now.  Her most recent big project before Lizzy's Big Trip was to paint murals on two walls of the local library.  "It was fun to practically live in the library for half a year while completing that work".  She also sells handmade greeting cards and commissioned work.  She lives in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband and 12 year old twins. Elizabeth does research on reading at the University of Colorado, as her real job.
